The famous romantic-emotional web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar of Sanjay Leela Bhansali is supposed to be released on Netflix on May 1, 2024. With the excitement of the release of the series, Richa Chadda has recently given an interview regarding her character in the web series Heeramandi. She is seen playing the role of courtesan Lajjo in this series. The first look at the series is out through the trailer, and people have already started to like the amazing appearance of Richa in the series. She also stated that she has been very confident in playing the role, which perfectly suits her appearance and character. 

Richa Chadha I sought inspiration from Meena Kumari for Heeramandi. 

Richa Chadha has stated that the character in the web series has been very amazing for her, and she took inspiration from the late legendary Bollywood actress Meena Kumari. She played an eyeconic character Sahibjaan in Pakeezah. The film released in 1972 had great attraction from the audience, and now Richa stated that the character of Meena Kumari was very inspirational for her to play the Amazing role in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali web series.

Richa had to go through multiple interviews with Meena Kumari, and then she properly noted her craft and work. She also went through over 50 hours of footage that included the biography and works of the late actress. It provided Richa with proper insights into her work and created a reference point for her in this series. 

Overwhelming Experience for Richa in the Heeramandi Web Series 

Richa Chadha stated that playing the role and studying the character of Meena Kumari was a transformative experience for her career. She understood the complexity and depth of the character, and it helped her in her work and acting in a great way. She also stated that it was an honour to pay such a tribute to the legendary actress of Bollywood. 

Earlier, Richa also stated that the Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar helped her go back into her classical dance form of Kathak. The characters had to go through months of practice to synchronize the dancing sequences.
